MiquDrill: also successful in the food industry
Materials which are in contact with foodstuff must meet high chemical-physical quality requirements and guidelines. This is mainly valid for metallic components, which are used in the beverage industry. Acid-resistant stainless steels are tough to machine. In spite of this fact excellent results have been achieved by using a Mikron MiquDrill for the drilling of a metallic mouthpiece, utilized for adding CO2 to beverages.

Tire pressure under control with MiquDrill
Pursuant to recommendations of the European Commission, all new cars starting from model year 2012, have to be equipped with a Tire Pressure Control System. In the USA this is already the case today (Tire Pressure Monitoring System – TPMS, Tire Safety System - TTS). Why is a Tire Pressure Control System needed? For safety reasons: many tire defects are caused due to low pressure. For cost effectiveness: too low pressure reduces the tire life and increases the fuel consumption. For comfort: the annoying regular air pressure check can be omitted. The frightening current status is: every third driver runs his car with insufficient tire pressure and therefore is exposed to a higher risk of accidents. The reason for this? Forgot to check, too awkward, does not know the right pressure.

Even centering can be „Cool“
Basically this is a “boring” topic: centering is just so common, each supplier handles center drills in most diverse sizes and executions. Proof that there still exists some “inventor potential” shows the newest development from Mikron Tool SA Agno: true to the long-established principle that only genuine new developments are adopted into the CrazyDrill program, the Swiss cutting tool specialist came up with a innovative new center drill, specially designed to meet the requirements of the most demanding customers.

Drilling on inclined surfaces
The CrazyDrill program of Mikron Tool exists now for nearly 10 years. Whether it is a question of particularly deep holes, small diameters or materials difficult to machine, precision is always crucial for users of our high performance drills. Drilling work pieces not at a right-angle represents always a particular challenge for cutting tools. For such tasks Mikron Tool has developed a pilot drill for inclined surfaces, which affords in many instances a perfect pilot hole for subsequent drilling at an angle.

Unbeatable flexibility – Ideo bridges the gap between Machining Center and Transfer Machining System
Specialists in the metal manufacturing such as sub suppliers in the fitting and pump industries are daily challenged to come up with better flexibility and productivity. This is also true for work pieces which need to be machined from casting blanks. Format and material from part to be machined, and its whole geometry oft changed very quickly. The customer requires an optimal quality Just-in-Time (JIT) or Just-in-Sequence (JIS). For this typical supply situation, the machining specialists at Mikron Machining Technology have developed the Ideo concept. The Ideo system allows the complete 6-sided machining of two prismatic work pieces of up to 250mm cube in one single clamping. The Ideo clamping system on one side and the two completely independent machining stations assure best possible flexibility.

CrazyDrill shows grandeur
CrazyDrill from Mikron Tool exists since almost 10 years. The successful, worldwide application of this high performance drill in a diameter range from 0.8 to 4 mm has induced Mikron Tool SA Agno to expand the diameter range, first to smaller and now also to bigger sizes up to 6 mm. The cutting parameters? CrazyDrill users are very demanding! A long-term test with Ø 5.35 mm in 100Cr6 and a cutting speed of Vc = 60 m/Min. and a feed rate of f = 0.4 mm/1 has even exceeded the ambitious targets concerning hole quality and tool life.
